| EZ Knot™ How - To - Tie a Weight-stop Knot |
![]() |
Slip weights are really the very best way to fish on the bottom, but the problem has always been a proper stop that will keep the weight from sliding down to the bait. What’s needed is a stop that does not weaken the line and will not slip. Anglers sometimes use swivels for these stops, but they take a minute or two to rig up. And if you hang up a lot while bottom fishing. you will lose a lot of swivels. Some use split shot weights crimped to the line, but these can slip, and they weaken the line. The answer to it all is the EZ Knot™ weight stop knot. It is simply the standard EZ Knot Snell Knot tied around a section of rubber band. It is fast to rig and basically free in cost. When using a rubber band, the knot does not weaken the line at all, and it takes the shock of heavy cast in stride.
This knot works great for bottom fishing natural baits and for the avid artificial worm fisherman. Other things can be used when you forget your rubber bands: a section of toothpick, a piece of string, a twig — anything with a little bulk and a smooth surface that won't nick the fishing line can be used. |
